What is a toner? What do they do? Why do we need them? These may be questions you’ve asked yourself before, whether you’ve never used a toner before or you use one every day and wonder what this watery-like thing that you wipe over your face for all of ten seconds is really doing for you anyway.
Toners are an essential part of skin care routines – they pick up where you cleanser left off by removing impurities that may be lingering on your skin. They improve complexion, increase circulation, balance skin pH, and tighten pores.
Toners are so important that, when I’m in a rush in the morning and I don’t have time to do my whole skincare routine, they are the only thing I put on before I run out the door!
Since toners are so fundamental, I put a lot of care into the formulation of Bloom. Each batch of bloom takes four to six weeks to make, because I infuse witch hazel with a special blend of herbs. This uplifting, nourishing toner penetrates your skin and draws on the soothing properties of various flowers, vegetables, and herbs.
Calendula flower, known as the skin-healing herb, is highly nourishing. Lavender and chamomile both have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, helping to soothe your skin. Kelp is high in mineral content, helping the skin feel firm while removing toxins. Willow Bark is rich in tannins (astringents) and salicin (which prevents and stops inflammation). It also contains milder hydroxyl acid and anti-microbial properties, which are beneficial for acne. Witch hazel is also a natural astringent, and removes excess oil from skin. Vegetable Collagen is a plant-derived alternative to soluble collagen that promotes younger-looking skin with its wrinkle-fighting abilities.
To use Bloom, apply one to two pumps to freshly cleansed face. There are so many beneficial ingredients in Bloom that it would be a waste to simply wipe over your face, so allow your skin to absorb it before following the rest of your daily routine. For best results, use daily in the morning and evening.
